Moving is a high-stress life event . Finding the time and energy to tackle the organizing, packing, discarding, cleaning, paperwork and the myriad of other tasks is a major challenge! When you're older and moving from the family home to a new smaller residence, possibly in a new community or your adult child's home, sorting through decades of family history and possessions can feel overwhelming—even paralyzing.

"When we really delve into the reasons for why we can't let some things go, there are only two: An attachment to the past or a fear for the future."
We've been helping people downsize for years and have developed a tried and true process to keep us on track and on task. If you are doing it yourself, helping a loved one or hiring a professional, we want to share with you our best tips and tricks to make it as easy, organized and stress-free as possible.
Documents are the most personal and tedious things to go through and require homeowner involvement. We go room to room and into each cupboard and dresser to find ALL the papers and sort them into 6 boxes. Later, the client can sift through the paperwork and decide what to keep and what to shred. (we even leave you with a shredder)

We make a layout of your future home and carefully measure your furniture to ensure it will fit. We decide what large pieces of furniture to keep!
We label each box carefully so you know where it goes and what's inside. These are the categories that we use to help keep you focused and organized
We help the emotional process of letting go and honour each items memory. If it is too difficult to let go, we collect these items into similar boxes and place them in a storage container....sometimes they are easier to go through after the move.
